Joseph Ole Lenku

Joseph Ole Lenku is the governor of Kajiado County

The 50-year-old politician is the second governor of Kajiado County after winning the 2017 General elections. 

Lenku served as the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government from 2013 to 2014.

He is a graduate of the University of Nairobi, where he obtained his Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management and Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing. He has worked in different management positions for various hotels in Kenya and Tanzania.

Ole Lenku recently rescued 26 women from the county from serving a one-year jail term in Tanzania. The women traders had been charged of being in the country illegally.

The Governor recently launched the Ksh 39 million sewer project which would benefit more than 100 homes in the area.

He also admonished land cartels and unscrupulous dealers in the region who had been a thorn in the flesh for Kajiado residents. The county introduced new validation processes in order to authenticate landowners. 

In the fight against the pandemic, he increased five isolation centres in five public hospitals while also setting aside Ngong Sub County Hospital, Ng’atataek Health Centre and the KMTC Oloitokitok as Covid- 19 hospitals and treatment centres.

The governor also increased health equipment within the public hospitals and also prioritised sensitisation of residents on the pandemic.
