Safaricom Partners With UN-Women to Empower Girls in ICT

Safaricom Women in Technology and UN Women have joined hands for the third African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI) cohort targeting 15 young women including 13 tech enthusiasts and 2 persons with disabilities.

In a statement on Monday, June 3, Safaricom revealed all participants from WIT's Technovation and One Tech programs underwent intensive training including a visit to its offices for a real-world tech experience with the engineers.

"As a woman in tech, you're not just coding or innovating; you're paving the way for future generations, proving that gender or disability is no barrier to success in the digital age," Safaricoms stated.

Participants are being equipped with the necessary skills to allow them lead the ICT sector. Safaricom added that the program was "Shaping tomorrow's leaders, one girl at a time."
