The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Monday, announced its partnership with the East African Grain Council through Trademark Africa in a bid to improve the competitiveness of East African grains in the export market.
USAID’s Economic Recovery and Reform Activity (ERRA) program delivered by TradeMark Africa (TMA) with funding from Feed the Future, has awarded a three-year grant worth Ksh325 million (USD 2 million) to the Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC).
“This funding will strengthen the competitiveness of export-oriented staple food value chains in East Africa," the statement read in part.”
According to Trademark Africa, the partnership will tackle challenges associated with exports as well as remove trade impediments in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda across export value chains for maize, beans, millet, sorghum, and rice.
