Retail chain Carrefour on Tuesday, February 13 unveiled a self-checkout service at its store in the Village Market Centre in Nairobi.
The technology allows shoppers to complete their purchases without having to queue for checkout at the cashiers’ desks, saving time.
The service, which accepts cashless options such as debit cards, credit cards, Myclub points and Mpesa, will serve customers shopping for fewer than 15 items.
To self-process, one is required to click the ‘start’ button on the checkout’s digital screen, scan the barcode imprinted on the items and complete the process by tapping the ‘finish and pay’ button.
