Equitel on Tuesday, February 27, made history by becoming the first mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) to launch 5G services in Africa.

Equitel, in partnership with Airtel, is revolutionising the virtual telecommunications landscape by ushering in a new era of fast connectivity for customers by providing unparalleled and easier access to mobile banking services.

Equitel has introduced the 5G service across 370 locations nationwide including Mombasa, Nakuru, Nairobi, Athi River, Kisumu, Kakamega, Siaya, Eldoret, and Bungoma among others.

With the new move, the 5G service will soon be extended to densely populated areas like residential neighborhoods, shopping centres and central business districts.
