Thousands have trooped to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) in Bondo, Siaya County, to attend the State Funeral Service of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

    Body of Raila Leaves His Residence for JOOUST

    The body of Raila Odinga leaves his Opoda farm heading for Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology. 

    The procession is guarded by the Military Police with a police escort. The journey to the university grounds where mourners are gathered is expected to take about 15 minutes.

    Full Programme for Raila Odinga’s Funeral Service

    The body of Raila Odinga is expected to arrive at JOOUST at around 9am, following the arrival of President William Ruto, according to a funeral programme seen by Kenyans.co.ke

    The state funeral procession will make its way from Raila’s Bondo residence, where it spent the night, to the university grounds for the funeral service.

    According to the programme, Raila Odinga's family is expected at the university around 8am, with the arrival of Cabinet Secretaries and other dignitaries.

    From 9am, the Head of State is expected to arrive, and the official programme begins after his arrival.

    The programme further indicates that Raila Odinga’s family, including Mama Ida Odinga and Winnie Odinga, as well as Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and President William Ruto, are scheduled to offer their tributes. 

    Rt. Prof. David Kodia, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Bondo, will lead the funeral service for the former Prime Minister.
