NTV investigative reporter Dennis Okari got married to KTN news anchor Betty Kyalo in October 2015 in one of the most colourful weddings after six years of being in a relationship.
However, bad news struck in 2016 when it came to light that the two had parted ways due to irreconcilable differences, just months after the colourful wedding.
2. Chris Brown Smashing Woman's Phone at Moi International Airport, Mombasa – October
Just after landing in Mombasa for a much-hyped concert, American R&B star Chris Brown apparently lost his cool and smashed the phone of one Brenda Chepkoech who was supposedly insisting on taking a selfie with him.
Brown later denied the claims and was allowed to go ahead with his performance in Mombasa.
3. Koffi Olomide Kicks Female Dancer at Airport – July
Shortly after arriving at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Olomide was caught on camera kicking one of his female dancers.
His actions sparked outrage on social media compelling the Government to deport him and his performance in Kenya cancelled.
4. Boniface Mwangi Walks Out of JKL Show – November
Human rights activist Boniface Mwangi caused drama after he walked out on Jeff Koinange during a live recording.
Mwangi walked out after Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria made an impromptu appearance on the show despite Koinange having assured him that he would be interviewed alone.
5. Prezzo Flirts with Betty Kyalo on Live TV – January
Controversial rapper Jackson Makini, popularly known as Prezzo, sent shock waves across the country after he started making suggestive gestures at KTN news anchor Betty Kyalo who was at the time married.
During the Live interview, Ms Kyallo seemed uncomfortable with Kenyans on social media castigating the rapper for his cocky behaviour.
6. Willy Paul, Size 8 walk out of Radio Jambo – December
Willy Paul and Size 8 surprised many when it emerged that they had stormed out of Radio Jambo studios where they had been invited to discuss their latest song Tiga Wana.
Size 8 later clarified that there could have been a miscommunication between the radio hosts and their manager.
7. Congolese maestro Defao Locked in Hotel Room Mombasa – August
Popular musician Defao was detained at a hotel in Nyali after he was unable to pay for his hotel room.
It took the intervention of Kenyan musician Jaguar who settled his bills before he was allowed to leave.
8. Lilian Muli Insults Waitress – September
Citizen TV news anchor Lillian Muli came on the spot after she was caught on camera insulting a female waitress at a high-end hotel in Nairobi.
9. Governor Evans Kidero and Senator Mike Sonko Fight – July
The Nairobi Governor and Senator came under sharp criticism after they engaged in a verbal and physical attack during a Senate Committee meeting with Sonko accusing the governor of being a murderer.
10. Ringtone Accused of Impregnating Girl
Controversial gospel singer Ringtone had a fair share of drama in 2016 after he was accused of impregnating a girl, claims which he denied.
