10 Years In Jail For Muslim Cleric Found Guilty of Sex Tourism

A Nakuru court has sentenced a Muslim cleric to 10 years imprisonment for trafficking underage girls.

According to Citizen Digital, Sheikh Samoja facilitated the transport of an underage girl to Nairobi where she was defiled severally by a Lebanon national, Sayyid Muktadha.

The court heard that on 16th December 2011, Sheihk Samoja was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as he prepared to travel to Lebanon.

Court attendants could not hold back their shock as Senior Resident Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku handed out the sentence.

In her ruling, Nthuku referred to the law stating that anyone facilitating the travel of another with the intention of commission of a sex offense was guilty of sex tourism, Capital Fm reports.

Sheikh Samoja, a father of four is a cleric at Bilal Muslim Mission in Nakuru.
