Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris on Wednesday, May 15, praised President William Ruto for his style of governance and work ethic in serving the citizens.
In a nine-minute video shared on her social platforms, Passaris questioned why critics accused her of being a mole in the Azimio coalition.
She reaffirmed her stance to support President Ruto's administration despite being in Opposition.
"Just because I'm in Azimio, and people call me a Baba girl, I also admire Ruto. I don't give a crap what you think. Because I'm in Azimio doesn't mean I must hate Ruto. I don't hate anyone.
"I love the president and the way he does things, his commitment to serve the people," she stated.
"He's not perfect just like us but there are certain things he does that touch my heart. Quit with the threats, because when you do so I block you. Probably, you're making threats and didn't even vote for me. Some of you are the reason why Azimio didn't win as you didn't vote."
In particular, the woman representative vowed to support the Finance Bill 2024, currently at the public participation stage, that will be discussed in Parliament where MPs will be given a chance to vote for or against the bill.
She maintained that the government would require funds to implement the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) model.
"There are some of the things that I don't like about the Finance Bill but I will vote for it. Why? Because the government requires money to run its operations," she pointed out.
"When my people are struggling and they need teachers, housing, roads, it's their taxes that will help them."
"My real prayer is we get the formula right without hurting people more. We all take responsibility as citizens in term of our taxes for our country to become independent. Let's be real, people pay taxes and government finds different ways to get taxes," she added.
