Former Chief Operating Officer at The Star Publication Agnes Kalekye Nguna on Friday, May 17, was appointed as the Managing Director of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation.
In a statement by the Director of the Department of Public Communications in the ICT Ministry, Mulei Muia, the appointment was made official through the KBC chairman of the board.
Kalekye, whose appointment began effectively on Friday, will run operations at KBC for three years.
She takes over from Paul Macharia who served in an acting capacity.
"We wish Ms Nguna well in her new role and the Ministry looks forward to her working closely with the Board of Directors in the revitilisation of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation as envisaged," the statement read in part.
The appointment followed a series of successful competitive recruitment processes in the past weeks.
Kalekye, under the guidance of the Board of Directors, will lead in designing and executing the corporation's strategy with clear milestones.
She will also be required to implement a turnaround strategy for the digitisation and automation of KBC's internal processes.
The government made four appointments to state corporations to ensure effective operations of the corporations.
Joseph Mungai Kamau was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Athi Water Works Development Agency.
Kamau has been serving in an acting capacity since September 2023. The newly appointed has over 27 years of experience in the water and sanitation sector.
Abdallah Mohamed Hatimy was appointed as the Managing Director of Kenya National Shipping Line Limited.
Philip Kiptanui Kirwa was also appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
