The former commissioner of the Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will serve alongside four others tasked with driving Governor Susan Kihika's investment vision.

Guliye's appointment was announced by the County Executive Committee (CEC) member for Trade Cooperatives, Tourism and Culture,  Stephen Kuria through a gazzette notice.

"In accordance with Section 17 of the Nakuru County Trade Act, the aforementioned are gazetted as members of the Nakuru County Investment Board," read part of the notice.

The CEC did however not list the roles or duration of Guliye's new position. In April, the county had announced plans to set up the board to encourage investors to set up business in Nakuru.

Additionally, the board is also expected to draft development-friendly policies at the county level to drive the county's competitiveness.

"The County Government of Nakuru is setting up an investment board that consists of both public and private sectors, to encourage investors to set up businesses in the country," Erick Korir, the Deputy Governor revealed.

Notably, this announcement came after the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) called upon Nakuru County to implement policies which will create a conducive business environment.

Guliye's appointment comes after he retired from the commission in January 2023 alongside the former chairperson Wafula Chebukati, and commissioner Boya Molu.

The other commissioners led by Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi, Juliana Cherera and Justus Nyan'aya resigned in December 2022 months after the 2022 General Elections.

So far, the commission remains without a chairperson and commissioners as a selection panel is being picked.
