The Ministry of Education revised the dates students across pre-primary, primary and secondary schools will break for the second term's half term.
In a letter dated May 24, Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang notified all learners and their tutors that the half term will run from June 26 to June 28.
Initially, the calendar had spelled out that the half-term period would last between June 20 to June 23.
According to the letter addressed to all county directors of education, all learners attending boarding schools were also to report back to schools by June 30, 2024.
"Following the disruption of the opening dates, it has been decided that the half-term dates for term two 2024 be revised," read the memo in part.
"The change may require adjustments on planned activities and schedules."
The memo was copied to Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, Teachers Service Commission Chief Executive Officer, Kenya National Examinations Council CEO as well as all regional directors of Education.
The recipients were subsequently ordered to communicate the content of the circular to all head teachers and principals.
President William Ruto, earlier, ordered schools to reopen on Monday, May 13, two weeks later than the scheduled reopening date due to the adverse effects of the flood crisis.
The reopening of schools had initially been scheduled for Monday, April 29 before Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu postponed the dates owing to the floods.
At the time, Machogu indicated that the reopening of schools would be extended by one week owing to the safety concerns that were posed by the heavy rains.
The floods had left over 200 people dead, over 200,000 displaced, and nearly 2,000 schools in ruins.
