President William Ruto on Monday, June 3, reiterated his support for the plan drafted by the US, Egypt, and Qatar to quell the violence between Israel and Gaza.

President Ruto pleaded with Israeli and Palestinian leaders to embrace and support the plan from the three countries. He added that this would reduce the human suffering that resulted from the wrangles.

"Given the astronomical human suffering that this conflict has inflicted, I implore Israeli and Palestinian leadership, and all parties of goodwill, to support this plan," he stated.

The Head of State emphasised that the plan, if followed, would lead to a permanent ceasefire and implementation of a two-state solution.

Additionally, Ruto noted that this plan will see Israel and Palestine coexist alongside each other to contribute to a more stable region.

"I welcome the roadmap put forward by President Joe Biden to bring an end to the escalating and widening conflict between Israel and Palestine," Ruto stated.

Egypt, Qatar, and the United States proposed a three-phase plan to guarantee a sustainable relationship between the two countries.

The plan includes withdrawing all Israeli forces from populated areas of Gaza, releasing hostages and remains, a six-week ceasefire, the return of Palestinians of North Gaza and access to humanitarian assistance for all affected citizens.

Ruto's remarks come a day after Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing'Oei announced Kenya's stance in the ongoing conflict between the two countries.

The PS added that the three countries had the right path to mend the relationship between Israel and Palestine. It will end the conflict that has led to loss of life, destruction of property, and displacement.

"We associate ourselves fully with this important initiative that seeks to halt the Israel-Hamas conflict that has led to a wanton killing and destruction in Gaza and in Palestine," the PS noted.

The wrangle between Israel and Palestine began in October 2023 and has escalated over the past few months.
