The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), through the National Lands Commission (NLC), gazetted the parcels of lands it intends to acquire for the expansion of a road in the Coast region.
In the notice dated Friday, June 7, the authority listed the parcels adjacent to Nyali Bridge-Mtwapa–Kwa Kadzengo–Kilifi Road in Kilifi and Mombasa Counties.
It further announced that it intended to dual the road and therefore announced that it would hear compensation claims on varied dates.
"The National Land Commission on behalf of Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) gives notice that the Inquiry to hear claims to compensation for interested parties in the land required for dualling of Nyali Bridge – Mtwapa – Kwa Kadzengo – Kilifi Road in Kilifi and Mombasa Counties, shall be held on the dates and venues as shown below," read the notice in part.
The Commission further indicated that the hearings will take place at Kongowea Chief's office, Maweni Chief's 0ffice, Shanzu Chief's office and Mtwapa Chief's office.
Other locations are Majengo Sub-Chief's office, Kikambala Chief's office and Takaungu Chief's office.
The hearing will take place between June 25 and July 4.
Requirements
According to NLC, the complainants will be required to write a claim of compensation to the Commission before individual dates their hearing will be heard.
They must accompany the claim with a copy of their ID card, and Personal Identification Number (PIN), land ownership documents and bank account details.
"Every person interested in the affected parcels is required to deliver to the National Land Commission on or before the day of the inquiry a written claim to compensation, a copy of identify card (ID), Personal Identification No. (PIN), land ownership documents and bank account details," read the notice signed by NLC Chairman Gershom Otachi in part.
"The Commission offices are in Ardhi House, 3rd Floor, Room 305, 1st Ngong Avenue Nairobi, and at the National Land Commission’s County Co-ordinator’s Office, in Kilifi and Mombasa Counties."
