The National Land Commission (NLC) has issued a directive to landlords over the construction of the Nairobi Western Bypass Road Project and the dualing of the Nyali Bridge-Mtwapa-Kwa Kadzengo-Kilifi (A7) road section.

In the Gazette notice dated Friday, May 31, the commission through its chairperson Gershom Otachi revealed that several landlords will be affected by the project while others who were previously listed have been removed.

"The National Land Commission on behalf of Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) gives notice that the National Government intends to delete, correct, and add the following parcels of land listed below for the construction of Nairobi Western Bypass Road Project in Kiambu County," reads part of the notice.

Some of the affected landowners are in Lower Kabete and Kabete areas. The land set to be included in the project belongs to three individuals and measures 0.0208 hectares, 0.4075 hectares, and 0.1348 hectares.

Additionally, three landowners who are making inquiries are asked to visit the Gathiga Chief's office on June 18, from 10 am and June 19.

"Every person interested in the affected land is required to deliver to the National Land Commission on or before the day of the inquiry written claim to compensation, a copy of the identity card, personal identification number, land ownership documents, and bank account details," Otachi stated.

On the other project in Mombasa County, over 18 landowners will be forced to move after the government sets sight on the parcels of land.

These new additions will be used for the construction of the road. Seven other landowners have been excluded from the project.

"Plans of the affected land may be inspected during office houses at the officer of the National Land Commission Ardhi House," the chairperson stated.

These land parcels are located in the Ziwa La Ng'ombe area and are all below 0.5 hectares.

The commission's office is located in Ardhi House along Ngong Avenue, Nairobi, and landowners can also visit the Commission's county coordinator office in Kiambu County.

Notably, all landowners who are affected by the construction will be entitled to compensation.
