CCTV footage emerged on Sunday night depicting the abduction of activist Shadrack Kiprono by unknown assailants.

In the video footage, the activist who was seen walking within a shopping complex in Nairobi’s South B area was accosted by a group of individuals who forcefully captured him.

The activist was later bundled into a white Prado which drove away to an unknown destination.

However, the vehicle which captured Shadrack has been allegedly identified with the photos having been plastered online following the late-night abduction.

Details of Shadrack’s whereabouts or his captors are yet to be uncovered.

The incident has sparked outrage across social media platforms as Kenyans demand the release of the activist who has been vocal during the anti-finance bill protests.

Notably, Shadrack appeared in an interview with Citizen TV ahead of last week’s protests where he reiterated his stance on the Finance Bill encouraging protestors to take action in the streets.

Shadrack’s abduction is one in the now-growing pattern of abductions of vocal youth within the protests.

On Sunday, a doctor who was leading a blood donation drive in Nairobi to aid the protestors was abducted and held in custody for hours.

The Doctor known as Austin Omondi was released hours after the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union threatened to shut down hospitals in the country.

Similarly, a social media influencer by the name Billy Simani was abducted from his house on Friday evening and held in custody until Saturday evening when the Law Society of Kenya came to his rescue.

According to the LSK, they acted on a tip-off leading them to Billy’s location which had remained undisclosed for the better of the day.
