Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir on Sunday shared footage of a young man being abducted in broad daylight in Bamburi.

In a statement, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) elected governor remarked that this was part of a wider roundup of Gen Zs who have been accused of planning anti-government protests.

The abduction in Bamburi happened at a time when several young men were abducted in Nairobi in relation to Finance Bill demonstrations.

"The rate of so-called unknown abductions clearly indicates a return of an era Kenyans had wished away,” the Governor stated.

“You cannot silence a people by making them disappear. A young boy was abducted today at Bamburi Go Kart and others were abducted in Nairobi.”

Abdulswamad remarked that this was not the type of country that he envisioned.

In the shared footage, the young man could be seen in the company of his family heading to a parked car.

Just before he eases into the driver's seat, four men push his family away and drag him out of the vehicle.

The family then tries to rush after the four goons but they quickly shove him in a waiting car and speed off.

The whereabouts of the young man remain unknown with no charges yet pressed against him.

Azimio Coalition, speaking of the abductions, had called for the resignation of Inspector General (IG) of Police Japhet Koome.

President William Ruto had earlier on Sunday remarked that it was within the rights of Gen Z to demonstrate.
