About five anti-Finance Bill protestors were on Tuesday noon shot after attempting to breach a security barrier near the parliament buildings.
According to the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), police officers manning the parliament buildings reportedly shot five protestors, killing one.
While revealing the horrific details, the commission condemned the killing terming it as unacceptable and a grave violation of human rights.
"Police have shot four protesters, as witnessed by KHRC, killing one. We strongly condemn the police killing. Such actions are unacceptable and constitute a grave violation of human rights," the Kenya Human Rights Commission noted in a statement.
"Justice and accountability are imperative. We will vigorously push for police accountability."
In the videos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, hundreds of protestors could be spotted attempting to gain entrance into parliament buildings despite heightened security around the premises.
Sounds of gunshots could be heard from a distance as police intervened to contain the protestors who began pelting objects at the armed officers.
In the live scenes, the angry protestors managed to overwhelm the officers and gained access to the parliament buildings.
Following the incident, Members of Parliament could be seen scampering for safety through the underground tunnel at the Bunge Towers.
The angry protestors went ahead to set a blaze in a section of the parliament building even as police officers continued to aim their guns at some of the adamant demonstrators.
Other sections of the building destroyed include the kitchen area, offices belonging to parliamentary leaders and the parking bay.
However, despite the intrusion, the officers managed to expel the protestors outside the building after several minutes of scuffle outside the parliament premises.
