UDA Allocated Ksh316 Million in Revised Political Party Funding

The Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu has published new allocations for political parties following the revised supplementary budget.

In a notice published on Friday, June 28, the United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) was listed as the biggest beneficiary of the millions announced in funding.

President William Ruto's party is set to receive Ksh316 million owing to its numbers in the National Assembly, Senate and county assemblies.

On the other hand, under the Azimio la Umoja coalition, ODM is set to receive the largest share. ODM will be allocated Ksh168,832,050.

The Jubilee Party which is led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta will be receiving Ksh74,052,078.

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka's party was allocated Ksh39,550,398 while Narc Kenya under the stewardship of Martha Karua was allocated Ksh4,139,528.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 23, 25 and 34 (b) of the Political Parties Act, 2011, and Regulation 6 (c) of the Political Parties (Funding) Regulations 2019, the Registrar of Political Parties gives notice that the Political Parties Fund (PPF) allocation has been revised during Supplementary Estimates No. 2 of FY2023/24 and this has necessitated a review of the distribution of the Fund," read the notice in part.

Other notable parties who will be receiving millions are the FORD Kenya of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula (Ksh4,162,181) and Amani National Congress (Ksh14,577,402). ANC is associated with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

Gideon Moi's Kenya African National Union (KANU) was allocated Ksh13,165,099 while the United Democratic Movement (UDM), which is popular in the northern parts of Kenya, will be receiving Ksh14,722,553.

On the other hand, the Safina Party, which is led by Businessman Jimi Wanjigi will receive Ksh1,719,113.

The allocated Funds will be disbursed upon receipt from the National Treasury," read the notice in part.
