Former Radio Citizen show host Joyce Gituro was on Monday sworn in to serve as a Chief Officer at the Machakos County Government.
Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, in a statement, announced that Gituro was sworn in alongside two other chief officers, Francis Munyambu and Dr Juliana Ndunge.
Gituro will, henceforth serve as the Chief Officer in the Department of Public Communications and E-government.
Ndunge, on the other hand, was posted to the Department of Sewerage, Sanitation, and Waste Management while Munyambu was sworn in as the Chief Officer of the Department of Inspectorate and Emergency Services.
"I have today witnessed the swearing-in into office 3 Chief Officers following their vetting and approval by the County Assembly of Machakos," stated Ndeti.
Gituro takes her wealth of experience in communications from the media industry having served in radio for nearly two decades.
She joined Royal Media Services, the parent company of Radio Citizen and Citizen TV, in 2004 and hosted a radio show until 2018.
"I worked for Citizen from 2004 to 2011. In 2011, I was promoted. I would only be doing one show on Sunday," she recalled during an interview with Jeff Kuria in 2023.
"I could not imagine waking up to preach, but looking at it now. I thank God for it has made me know God more."
She later decamped to Media Max where she served as a brand manager overseeing six radio outlets.
She parted ways with the station a year later.
For several years, the former Radio presenter concentrated on managing her own media company and other investments.
