Royal Media Services Head Of Radio Joyce Gituro Quits

The talents swop among local media has stretched further to the leading radio station at Royal Media services with the head of radio announcing her exit on Sunday.

Radio Citizen's Pambazuka show presenter Joyce ‘wa’ Gituro is the latest to announce her move from the media agency.

On Sunday, the highly religious Gituro broke the news to her audience saying it was her last day commanding one of the most popular gospel shows in the country

Her grasp of the scriptures and series of hosts that share the gospel with the audience had seen her pick a new title, or perhaps many saw her as a ‘Bishop’ on the airwaves.

Radio Citizen and the television stations enjoy a huge following in the country and in recent days there has been major talent and management shake-ups in a bid to turn around business fortunes and revamp content creation strategies.

Gituro is reportedly headed to Mediamax owned radio Milele FM that recently lost Nzula Makosi to the Public Relations world. A number of media personalities have been drifting away to corporate communications while some picked up county government communications roles.

Gituro is trained in both journalism and public relations and she holds a Masters degree in corporate communications from Daystar University. Apart from Pambazuka show, Gituro loves football and never misses a comment on matches when ending her show and handing over to Fred Obachi Machoka.

Radio Citizen morning show Jambo Kenya host Francis Luchivia who joined Radio Citizen in 2010 is also said to have tendered his resignation. Luchivia was identified and picked from sister station Mulembe FM, one of the RMS Luhya language broadcasting radio where he had worn numbers.

Luchivya alongside comedian ‘Wilbroda’ have been tipped to be part of the team expected to breathe life back to the Milele FM morning show at Mediamax where their current boss Joyce Gituro will head radio operations.

The pair will leave Radio Citizen with comedian Mwala as he awaits a replacement for their pair who are among a number of the radio chaps that were lining up for an exit.

Earlier in the week, former Citizen TV news anchor Salim Swaleh confirmed his move to Nation Media Group days after he quit his job at Royal Media Services (RMS).

In a post seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Salim changed his social media profile to include his new job at NTV.

Here are some of the reactions from Joyce's announcement that she is leaving RMS.
