The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) announced that the portal for inter-institution transfer would be closed at midnight on Thursday, July 4.

Issuing the notice, the placement body urged first-year students under government sponsorship to take the opportunity to transfer to the university of their choice.

This includes students in public universities, colleges, polytechnics and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

“If you were placed to a university or TVET institution recently and wish to transfer, apply via students.kuccps.net,” first-year students were told.

KUCCPS explained that the window had been opened to ensure that all students had the opportunity to study their desired courses in their preferred institutions.

Notably, for your transfer request to go through, it must be endorsed by both the releasing and receiving institutions.

This means, that if you are transferring from Kenyatta University to the University of Nairobi, KUCCPS cannot process the request if one of the two institutions declines to approve.

Additionally, KUCCPS will not approve the transfer request if you do not have the required cluster points needed for your preferred course.

The KUCCPS portal indicates the cluster points for each student and the required cluster points for respective courses as well as subject requirements.

KUCCPS further announced that students who had applied for Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) courses could view their application status on the portal.

“Those who applied for the intake and have not secured a course are invited to choose other KMTC courses via the portal,” the placement body added.

The deadline for KMTC's second revision was set on July 12 and is strictly for those who did not get placed during the first phase.
