In the wake of the recent rains experienced in several parts of the country, the Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans in some parts of the country to brace for more downpours.
In a five-day weather advisory, the Kenya Met clarified that the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya would receive rainfall in moderate to high amounts between July 13 and July 17.
Counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru and Narok were projected to receive heavy rains that would be accompanied by a thunderstorm.
A similar weather pattern was expected in the countries of Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot.
Meanwhile, the counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi were expected to experience moderate rainfall.
The weatherman also stated that the coastal counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale would receive moderate rainfall in the final three days of the forecast.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country was forecasted to remain dry for the next five days.
The counties of Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo were projected to remain dry and experience sunny weather conditions for most days of the forecast period.
"Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley," read part of the advisory.
In his advisory, the Kenya Met Director General, David Gikungu, also warned of very cold nights in the counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi.
According to the weatherman, the night temperatures in the above counties would drop to a low of 6°C for the first two days of the forecast and remain steady at 9°C for the remaining days.
In equal measure, the counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Turkana and Samburu were forecasted to experience high daytime temperatures of up to 37°C.
