President William Ruto has pledged to work with all Kenyans to rebuild the government and accelerate the country's growth.
In a fervent call for unity, Ruto assured the nation of his commitment to collaborate across the political spectrum for the betterment of the Republic.
Speaking in Elgeyo Marakwet on Saturday, July 13, President Ruto declared, “Going forward, we are going to work as Kenyans making sure that we harness every opportunity, talent and capability so that we build our economy, create jobs, manage our debt, deal decisively with corruption and make sure Kenya marches forward.”
This public address marked his first appearance since dismissing nearly his entire Cabinet, retaining only Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
“You all saw what I did this week so that I remake this government well. This will allow us to unite Kenya,” stated Ruto.
The dramatic cabinet overhaul was in response to demands from young Kenyans during recent protests against the finance bill, which evolved into broader anti-government demonstrations.
On Thursday, President Ruto fired his Cabinet, a move that has been seen as a seismic shift in his administration's approach to governance. This action aligns with the calls for a government that is both inclusive and effective in addressing the country's myriad challenges.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, in a significant diplomatic engagement, revealed the President's vision for a new Cabinet characterised by “exceptional competence and integrity.”

Mudavadi emphasised that the forthcoming nominees will not only meet high standards of competence but will also embody integrity, crucial qualities in the face of rising public expectations and pressing national challenges.
Ruto's return to the Rift Valley for a second consecutive weekend highlights his efforts to rebuild confidence and reassure his political base.
Despite his promises of unity, the President faces formidable challenges, from managing the repayment of Kenya's Ksh10 trillion debt to reconstituting the Cabinet and increasing revenue collections without raising taxes.
