Siaya Governor James Orengo came out to critique his long-time ally Raila Odinga for his reported dalliance with President William Ruto.
Speaking at a funeral service for a protestor in Alego, Orengo stated that the move by a section of Azimio leaders was ill-advised.
According to Orengo, the Kenya Kwanza government was responsible for the ills that had befallen protestors such as the loss of lives.
“We can not kill our people and the time when they are mourning, we are looking for offices, that cannot happen. We must first deal with injustice before we can deal with the questions that arise from that injustice,” Orengo stated.
Orengo further cautioned Raila from supporting the government stating that the move was against Kenyans' wishes.
Additionally, he termed the broad-based cabinet that was in the offing as a passing cloud, warning that it could not amount to political mileage for Raila Odinga.
“And I want to say those who are in a rush to join Ruto, that Ruto is a passing cloud and I am saying that without a fear of contradiction,” stated Orengo.
Further, Orengo continued to discredit the government stating that the President had lost the confidence of his people and that of the international community as well.
Orengo further urged politicians to be considerate of the families who had lost their loved ones while forging alliances with the government.
Orengo’s sentiments come after the Azimio faction has been rocked by looming split over Raila’s support for Ruto’s policies.
On Thursday, Raila Odinga made a defiant stand, dismissing calls for President William Ruto to step down.
According to Raila,if Ruto accepted to resign as demanded by a section of Kenyans, then the consequences would be detrimental for the nation.
However, several leaders in the Azimio camp including Kalonzo Musyoka have distanced themselves from Raila’s union with Ruto.
