Shiksha Arora has made headlines again by announcing her move to TV47 just days after parting ways with the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).

Arora’s departure from KBC, effective Friday, July 19, marked the end of a significant chapter in her career, having spent three years at the station.

In a heartfelt message shared on her social media, Arora expressed her gratitude and bittersweet emotions about leaving KBC.

“My heart is overflowing with emotions as I type this. It's hard to say goodbye to a workplace that I called home for 3 years and colleagues who have become like family,” she wrote. Her final show, aired on the same day, was a poignant farewell to both her audience and her team at KBC.

Arora’s tenure at KBC was marked by her engaging presence on "Easy Friday" and her dynamic reporting on major events, including national elections and high-profile entertainment stories.

In an advert released online by TV47, Shiksha is introduced as the 'new girls in town'.

Her energetic and approachable style quickly endeared her to viewers, solidifying her status as one of Kenya’s most beloved media personalities.

Before her time at KBC, Arora was a fixture on K24, where she spent three years starting in 2018. Her career in media began with roles at Media Max and Radio Africa, demonstrating her versatility across different platforms.

Her international experience includes stints with the BBC and Smoke FM in the U.K., adding a global dimension to her impressive portfolio.

Arora holds a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Westminster in London and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Microbiology and Biotechnology.

Shiksha’s arrival at TV47 is another boost for Kenya's youngest and most rapidly growing television network.

According to a recent Infotrak report, TV47 has surged into the top 4 most-watched TV stations in Kenya as of February 2024, a remarkable feat for a channel that only launched in 2019.

TV47's meteoric rise has seen it secure a spot behind established giants Citizen TV, NTV, and KTN. The station's growing prominence is attributed to its impressive roster of new stars, including Willis Raburu before he left, Fred Indimuli, and Liz Mutuku, whose dynamic presence has significantly contributed to the channel’s increasing popularity.

The Infotrak survey, which covered all 47 counties and achieved a 97 per cent response rate, highlights that TV47's audience is predominantly young, with the largest viewership segment falling within the 18-26 age group.
