The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning for Kenyans to prepare for another week of extreme weather conditions.
The dire forecast, announced on Friday, July 26, indicates that the challenging weather patterns experienced over this week are set to persist.
Kennedy Thiong’o, Director of Meteorological Services, detailed the expected conditions. "Rainfall is expected to continue over parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central Rift Valley, and Northwestern Kenya," Thiong’o stated.
The forecast for Saturday, July 27, predicts rain in various regions. The morning will see showers in a few places, followed by afternoon showers over high-ground areas in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi Counties. These regions can expect evening showers as well.
Sunday’s weather will mirror Saturday’s with cloudy skies breaking into sunny intervals in the morning, afternoon showers over high-ground areas, and partly cloudy conditions in the evening.
This pattern is expected to continue through Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with a chance of rainfall on Tuesday evening.
The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley (including Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot Counties) will experience rain in the morning, followed by showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening on Saturday.
