The Government of Kenya, through the State Department for Foreign Affairs and in collaboration with the Africa for Haiti (A4H) Initiative, has announced the 'Harmony4Haiti Concert and Cultural Festival' set to take place on August 24, 2024.
According to the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Foreign Affairs Korir Sing’oei, the event is designed to celebrate and highlight the rich cultural heritage shared between Africa and Haiti, underscoring the deep historical and cultural ties between the two regions.
"Africa and Haiti share deep historical and cultural ties. To demonstrate solidarity with the people of Haiti, the State Department for Foreign Affairs and A4H will jointly host an event dubbed ‘Harmony4Haiti Concert and Cultural Festival.’ This event aims to highlight the rich cultural heritage of Haiti and Africa, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation," the State Department for Foreign Affairs stated.
Scheduled to be a vibrant cultural celebration, the festival will feature a series of engaging activities, including:
- Musical Performances: Renowned artists from both Haiti and Africa will grace the stage, bringing the unique sounds and rhythms of their homelands to life.
- Cultural Exhibition: The exhibition will showcase an array of Haitian and African art, crafts, and cuisine, offering attendees a chance to immerse themselves in the diverse and rich cultural tapestries of both regions.
- Panel Discussion: A panel of experts will discuss the historical, cultural, and socio-economic ties between Haiti and Africa, providing insights into the longstanding connection and future cooperation prospects.
Singoei emphasized Kenya’s commitment to supporting Haiti not only culturally but also in areas of security, governance, and development.
"PS Singoei reiterated Kenya’s commitment to continued support in security, governance, and development initiatives. Kenya looks forward to a stable and prosperous Haiti in the long-term," the statement read.
In a joint briefing with A4H, PS Singoei highlighted Kenya’s ongoing dedication to the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission in Haiti, reflecting the country's unwavering commitment to global peace and stability.
“The MSS Mission has seen substantial progress, with Kenyan forces playing a pivotal role in support of the Haitian Government and the maintenance of security,” stated PS Singoei.
The 'Harmony4Haiti Concert and Cultural Festival' is more than just a cultural event; it symbolizes Kenya's solidarity with Haiti and a shared vision for a harmonious and prosperous future.
