According to a police report obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the officer who was in the company of his friends visited a drinking joint at the Mihango area at around 9 pm.

After hours of engaging in a drinking spree, the officer and his friends moved to another joint and continued with their engagements until 2 am when he decided to leave for home.

However, while on his way home, the officer was suddenly accosted by two people on a bodaboda bike and stole from him.

During the scrimmage, the two individuals managed to make away with the police officer's ceska pistol, his wallet and a mobile phone.

Following the incident, he reported the mugging at the nearby station prompting the officers attached to Mihang’o and the detectives from Kayole to visit the scene.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers also visited the two joints where the police officer spent part of the night reveling.

Additionally, the officers visited the victim's parents' home before proceeding to question the officer's wife who confirmed that indeed the victim left home with the gun.

During the interrogation, the police officers arrested and detained the officer who appeared injured following the altercation with the alleged thieves.

"The officer was placed in custody while appearing drunk and with bruises on the mouth, elbow and on the right knee with torn trousers and T-shirt to assist in investigations," read part of the police report.

In an analogous incident in December last year, an Officer Commanding a Station (OCS) was attacked by robbers in Vihiga County and his firearm stolen.

According to a police report, the OCS had just parked his car outside a shop when an unknown number of men attacked him, and stabbed him before making away with the Jericho pistol.
