Property of unknown value went up in smoke on Saturday evening after a fire incident was reported at Isiolo Girls High School.
While confirming the incident, the Kenya Red Cross Society announced that it had dispatched a rescue team to the scene.
"A fire incident has been reported at Isiolo Girls High School, Isiolo County. Response teams activated," the Kenya Red Cross revealed.
According to preliminary reports, several students were reportedly trapped inside the dormitory which is said to host to Form One learners.
In the videos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, a group of locals jointly with the Disaster Management teams from Isiolo County Government was captured fighting the inferno which had engulfed the whole building.
A billow of smoke was spotted emanating from the institution's facility as a section of the students rushed to salvage their property.
Meanwhile, the root cause of the fire is yet to be established. At the time of publishing this article, the police were yet to arrive at the scene of the tragedy.
Additionally, no casualties had been reported from the tragic incident which began at around 7.30 pm.
The Isiolo Tragedy comes hardly a day after 21 pupils reportedly died in a similar fire incident that occurred at the Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri County.
In his Saturday noon presser, Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura revealed a surge in fatalities from 18 people to 21 pupils. He similarly confirmed that a total of 139 pupils out of 156 had been accounted for.
Mwaura further noted that the investigations into the occurrence were still ongoing and that more updates would be provided in the due course.
"On behalf of the Government of Kenya, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones," Mwaura commented.
"It is truly devastating for the nation to lose such many young and promising Kenyans.
