Popular messaging application, WhatsApp, has rolled out two new features in its latest update to enhance the conversation and safety of its users.
While making the announcement, the Meta-owned instant messaging app disclosed that users would henceforth be able to access information about a particular group before joining it.
Henceforth, users will have access to details like who added them, the date when the group was created, and what the group is all about.
The new feature will grant users the chance to conduct a quick safety check before deciding on whether to join the group or not.
WhatsApp’s Meta AI
WhatsApp's announcement also unveiled the Meta AI, an intelligent assistant that is capable of complex reasoning, following instructions, visualising ideas, and solving refined problems within the application.
Users will be able to converse with Meta AI. For instance, a user seeking information about a particular matter will be able to speak to Meta AI and it will talk back.
To enroll, just press down on the waveform button to ask a question and let Meta AI explain something you are curious about.
As this feature starts to roll out, users will also be able to choose from different voice options including from celebrities around the world.
Users will also be able to send photos to Meta AI and get answers about the world around them. For example, a person can take a picture of a menu in a foreign language and ask for a translation, or take a picture of a plant and ask how to take care of it.
While unveiling the new features, WhatsApp stated that the new update would make it easier for more people to explore their ideas, improve their chats, and try new things.
“We’re a year into bringing Meta AI to WhatsApp and we continue to hear positive feedback from people who are using this new technology,” Meta stated.
"We’re also expanding our business AIs, so more people will get faster service when talking to a business."
