Former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has landed a job at Daystar University.
In a statement on Thursday, Kibwana announced that he was hired to serve as a Law School professor at the institution, a position that comes after a successful stint at the University of Nairobi
Kibwana will be taking over the Master of Laws Programme from January 2025.
"I thank God for the opportunity to serve at the Daystar University Law School as a professor after a previous 25-year stint at UoN." read part of Kibwana's statement.
His announcement received a warm welcome from Kenyans who acknowledged his wealth in the academic field and congratulated him on the role.
"All the best Professor! Your unwavering commitment to mentorship and leadership has shaped countless young minds. May this new chapter bring even greater opportunities to inspire and impact the next generation. Wishing you success and fulfillment in all your endeavors!", read one of the congratulatory messages.
The former Makueni Governor is one of the most academically accomplished public officeholders across the country.
He holds three degrees, a Bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Nairobi, his first degree which he obtained in 1976. He then pursued a Master of Law degree from Harvard University and another Master of Law from the University of London.
The lawyer also holds a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Africa International University and a Doctorate of Juridical Science (SJD) from George Washington University, USA.
He served as the Makueni Governor from 2013-2022. His teaching career has shaped many renowned lawyers in Kenya including Smokin Wanjala, Njoki Ndung'u, Mohamed Khadhar Ibrahim, and Isaac Lenaola who've all sat on the Supreme Court bench at one point.
City lawyer Makau Mutua and former Attorney General Githu Muigai were also taught by the lawyer come lecturer.
The lawyer who started his teaching career at age 23 at the University expressed his passion and enthusiasm to mold the youths in Kenya.
"Where the youth is, I pray I will always be there", wrote Kibwana.
