Nyakababa Comics who double up as content creators and comic singers had their wish granted after they pleaded for an opportunity to appear on Citizen TV and meet Lulu Hassan.
The singing group which consist of Brian Matunda, Washington Emmanuel Maitha, and Master Nyabuto sang songs praising Lulu Hassan who granted their wish and invited them to Royal Media Services Studios located along Dennis Pritt Road in Nairobi.
In the viral song, the singers promised to bring goodies to Lulu if they got a chance to see her. Among the goodies they promised to bring were 'matoke' from Kisii.
Appearing during an interview with Lulu Hassan on Citizen TV on Friday, the trio revealed that mentioning the renowned journalist in their song was a strategic move to market themselves on national TV.
The singers have become a sensation on TikTok and boast of a following of 90,000 and over 1 million likes on the social media platform.
Most of their content revolves around remixing popular songs which they achieve through infusing comedy to capture trending topics. They went viral after their informational video clip on the Gen Z protests in July was posted by Alfred Keter.
One of their videos gained a lot of online traction garnering 3 million views. The video portrayed the state of the nation. The singers highlighted unemployment in the nation, stating that even graduates are forced to shelve their educational skills for manual construction jobs in order to survive.
The young men began the group with the sole aim of selling important messages to Gen Zs and promoting Seventh Day Adventist songs.
The trio started the group after failing to secure job opportunities leading them to content creation.
The Citizen TV invite benefited the young men after one of them was able to land a 'scholarship'. Master Nyabuto who is a Grade 8 JSS student benefited after a Citizen TV's producer offered to pay his school fees.
Master revealed that paying school fees of Ksh1,800 per term posed a challenge for his parents and siblings. The producer according to Lulu offered to pay Master's fee for the next 3 terms.
The group believes that their craft will inspire other young talents to work hard and follow their passions whenever they fail to secure white collar jobs.
