Activist David Morara Kebaso on Monday called upon Kenyans to fundraise to enable him beef up his security after a brazen attack was staged against him on Friday last week at the Bomas of Kenya.

In a post, the activist, building from an earlier communication that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) had infiltrated his inner circle warned that more needed to be done to guarantee his wellbeing.

Contrary to his previous appeal where Kebaso was transparent,  this time Morara made it explicitly clear that he would not be accounting for the funds since this involved his security and only well-wishers who trust him should contribute.

"I am requesting Kenyans of goodwill to support me in boosting my security infrastructure and manpower," wrote Morara.

"The security expenditure will be very confidential therefore I won’t publicly account for it. Only send if you TRUST me", wrote the activist.

The call to boost his security and manpower comes after several attacks on the activist. On Friday 4, Morara was assaulted at the Bomas of Kenya when he showed up at the facility to exercise his public participation democratic right on the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Morara, a huge critic of the Kenya Kwanza government experienced a torrid time when goons descended on him, throwing chairs and brutally attempting to beat him up.

Chaos and violence intensified in the hall even as Morara tried to find a seat. However, he was heckled and forcefully ejected from the premises. Morara escaped with injuries and was subsequently forced to seek medical attention.

Morara afterwards claimed that the attacks were pre-planned and his detractors were waiting to rough him up upon arrival. His frustrations began at the gate where he had initially been denied entry.

Inside the auditorium, Kebaso claimed that the event's MC, Ruaraka Member of Parliament TJ Kajwang', was not pleased when the crowd cheered him on and asked him to table his views and that is when chaos erupted.

Morara called upon police IG Douglas Kanja and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin to arrest those responsible for the Bomas attack. However, no arrests have been made so far.

Before the Bomas drama, Morara was dramatically arrested at his Kahawa Sukari offices under unclear circumstances. He was taken to the Regional Police Headquarters in Nairobi where he was accused of cyber harassment.

Kebaso is a vocal critic of President William Ruto, claiming that many of Ruto's initiatives are either stalled or yet to be launched.

He emphasized the importance of his work in holding the government accountable, stating that he is not concerned about his own safety because fear would stop him from properly exercising his civic education mandate.
