The Kenya Airways plane, KQ203, ferrying the remains of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, is the most tracked aeroplane in the world this morning.
The plane, currently over Somalia, boasts over 29,000 trackers and counting, as Kenyans anticipate its arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 9:30am.
This comes just a few hours after the KQ flight transporting the Kenyan delegation to Mumbai on Wednesday night was also the most tracked, with over 7,000 individuals.
According to Flightradar24, the flight has already entered the Kenyan airspace.
Earlier today, Kenya Airways announced that it would rename KQ203 to RAO001 the moment it flies over Kenyan airspace, meaning it is currently operating under that name.
"KQ203 will change to RAO001 as soon as we reach the Kenya Airspace at around 8:50 am to honour and respect our departed leader. ETA at JKIA is 09:30am," KQ said in a statement.
The flight, which had been scheduled to depart Mumbai at 2:30am left Mumbai at 6:23am this morning.
Once the body arrives at JKIA at 9:30am, Raila's body will be transported to the Parliament buildings, where it will lie in state for public viewing between 12 noon to 5pm, after which it will be moved back to Lee Funeral Home, where it will stay until Friday.
On Friday, October 17, which has been declared a public holiday, the government will hold a State Funeral service at the Nyayo Stadium from 8am in his honour.
His body will later be taken to his residence in Karen, where it will spend the night.
The body will finally be flown to Kisumu on Saturday, October 18, where another public viewing will be held at Moi Stadium from 9am to 3pm.
The body will then be ferried by road from Kisumu to Bondo for an overnight stay, before his burial at his family’s graveyard in Kango Ka Jaramogi, beside his late son Fidel and his father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
