A female police officer posted at the Muungano Police Station has reportedly passed away after collapsing at her rented house in Utawala, Nairobi.
According to a police report obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the officer was in the company of her husband on the evening of Tuesday when she suddenly experienced a seizure attack, leading to her collapse.
Her husband, Evans Adongo, quickly rushed her to the Reale Hospital located within the Utawala statement for treatment.
Adongo later reported the incident to Muungano Police Station who rushed to the hospital where their colleague was taken.
However, the officers, led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), were informed that their colleague had passed away.
"On arrival, we were informed by the doctors that the officer had suffered a seizure and was pronounced dead on arrival," read part of the police report.
Following her death, the officer's body was transferred to the Chiromo Funeral Home for preservation and awaiting postmortem. Meanwhile, the officers have since launched a probe to unravel the root cause of her death.
The latest incident adds to a series of deaths reported among police officers in the country. In a similar incident five days ago, a police officer attached to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was found dead inside his house.
The officer's absence from work for two days raised eyebrows among colleagues including the OCS who sent a group of officers to the colleague's house to enquire about his whereabouts. Upon their arrival, the officers found the 35-year-old's house locked.
After several failed attempts to unlock the door, a curious officer peeped through the window, only to spot their colleague lying on the floor inside his house.
According to the police report, the officer was found lying dead on his bed in a supine position with no visible injuries, raising questions as to what could have prompted his death.
The scene was immediately processed by officers from Embakasi and the deceased officer's body was moved to a funeral home along Mbagathi Road awaiting an autopsy.
Similarly, the officers from the Embakasi Police Station cordoned off the place before launching a probe into what could have caused the death of the junior officer.
