Dadaab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim on Friday refuted claims that he was banned from accessing popular hotels across the country.

Maalim in a brief statement clarified that he had never been kicked out of any hotel in the country and that reports circulating on social media platforms about such an indent were false. In particular, the lawmaker dismissed allegations that he was forced to prematurely end a meeting at a famous hotel in Mombasa.

According to the MP, despite the allegations, he successfully held the meeting at the hotel in Coastal County and finished the conference by midday without any disruptions before going ahead to have a luncheon at the same place.

“We finished our official Function in Whitesands by mid-day on the material date. We had lunch and I then left to join my family in a beach resort apartment,” Maalim said.

“These bunch of crooked lying mostly foreign-based mercenary armchair social media busybodies dared to write that I was banned from many hotels,” the MP commented.

The lawmaker also debunked claims that he was kicked out of another popular hotel in Garissa that hosts a golf ground. According to him, Garissa County has never owned a gold club since most people residing there have little knowledge about the game.

In July this year, reports emerged that the MP was reportedly ejected from a hotel in Mombasa following his alleged inflammatory remarks against the youthful protesters who opposed the defunct Finance Bill 2024.

In a statement, the hotel's Managing Director confirmed the reports that indeed the MP was ousted from the guest house where he had resided for several days.

"Good evening. He is no longer a guest at our hotel. We asked him to leave the hotel earlier in the day. We do not in any way condone his inflammatory and threatening statements against Kenyans and will not associate our brand with such a person," said the hotel's Director.

Maalim has been in the spotlight following his controversial sentiments against the Gen Z protesters. His alleged outrageous, provocative sentiments got him summoned by the Wiper party, however, the MP has since failed to turn up for the disciplinary hearing.

In a recent notice, Kalonzo's party revealed the process to revoke Maalim's party membership over allegations that the latter failed to honour the summons issued to him.

"Once the disciplinary committee advises that Honourable Maalim be relieved off his duties, indeed be expelled from the party, the same will require ratification by a special National Delegates Convention," read part of the statement by the Wiper party.
