High drama unfolded live on screen after Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni walked out of a television Interview on Wednesday night refusing to engage Daadab MP Farah Maalim.
The dramatic incident took place at around 10:00 pm on TV 47 where Kioni and Maalim were invited as panelists to discuss matters revolving around the State of the Nation.
Kioni became agitated when Farah Maalim disputed reports that he had made remarks calling on President William Ruto to clamp down on Gen Z protestors before calling on Kioni to produce evidence that he actually made the comments.
Desperate efforts by the interviewer to protect Maalim were futile as Kioni seemingly annoyed by the MP’s stance was forced to cut him midway insisting he would not continue to debate with Farah.
“It is my business to ensure I am engaging in a debate with people who have respect for Kenyans,” he fired at the interviewer.
MP Farah and the interviewer asked Kioni to produce evidence to which he retorted, “It is not for me to take him to court, he said and he is a mature person.”.
Kioni took issue with Farah for refusing to show remorse for his utterances with his adamant denial forcing him to storm out of the studio live on camera after an exchange with both the interviewer and his fellow panelist.
Kioni informed the interviewer that if he knew he was going to debate with MP Farah he would turned down the interview maintaining he cannot share podium with Farah.
“I came here because you invited me and I asked you clearly who is this I am coming to debate with. If you would have told me it is Farah I would have respectfully told you no," he reasoned.
Kioni proceeded to blame the interviewer for boxing him to engage in a debate with a man he deemed not as respectful to lives of Kenyans.
“I am taking offence that you (interviewer) are putting on the same table with a person who wanted to kill 5,000 Gen Zs and there is no way he can escape with it,” Kioni asserted as he walked out.
On his part, MP Farah demanded Kioni to produce evidence. “When you don’t have substance and you are scared of somebody. He (Kioni) understands my position, he understands my principle he understands my history very well and he knows he cannot debate with me on substantive issues that’s why he has to digress into other issues," he defended himself.
