The Kenya Meteorological Department on Friday urged Kenyans living in different parts of the country to prepare for moderate to heavy rainfall for the next five days between October 25 to October 29.
In its five-day weather forecast, Kenya Met called on individuals living in the Highlands East region, the West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley regions to brace for occasional rainfall over the weekend.
According to the weather department, Kenyans living in the counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo-Marakwet would experience heavy rainfall.
In the forecast, the meteorological department disclosed that the downpour would begin in the afternoon and extend to the night in some of the locations. The residents were asked to be cautious as the rains would be accompanied by thunderstorms.
The counties of Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot were also highlighted among the regions to experience heavy rainfall for the next five days.
Similarly, Kenyans living in the Highlands East counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi were told to brace for occasional rainfall.
The weather department in its advisory, urged the residents living in the above-mentioned areas to prepare for moderate rainfall that would fall in the afternoon.
Kenyans residing in the Coastal counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as coastal parts of Tana River County were informed to prepare for light rains from mid-morning.
Temperature Advisory
Meanwhile, the meteorological department in its weekend advisory also warned of very cold night temperatures, particularly in the counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi.
According to the weather department, the night temperatures in the above counties were expected to drop to 6°C in the first three days of the forecast before rising to 7°C for the rest of the days.
Additionally, residents living in Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot were cautioned to brace for high daytime temperatures of up to 32°C.
Other counties that were cautioned to prepare for hot days include Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale.
