Two robbers were on Sunday morning shot dead after a heated shoot-out with the police in Kilimani area of Nairobi County

This is after police officers drawn from Kilimani, who were on patrol duties along Tigoni road near Naivas Supermarket, bumped into a gang of three on a motorcycle. The trio was caught red-handed while committing a crime.

Efforts by the security agencies to flag down the motorcycle which the culprits were using bore no fruits. The criminals opened fire leading to a shootout.

Two of the three gang members were permanently immobilised as one of their members escaped with gunshot wounds.

In the raid, spoils the robbers had stolen were discovered including mobile phones. A mini-revolver and a panga which is believed to have been the weapons used by the gang were recovered.

Following the incident, two members of the public who had earlier lost their valuables to the hoodlums were able to positively identify them from the recoveries.

The scene has since been marked by crime scene detectives as the search for the escapee who is at large continues.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies within Kilimani Sub-County have intensified patrols within their area of jurisdiction and therefore call upon members of the public to continue collaborating with them for a safer and secure sub-county.

It comes days after Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers on Thursday morning arrested 4 highway robbers in Vihiga's Emuhaya sub-county, after a foiled theft attempt on a transit truck ferrying cement from Machakos to Busia via the Kisumu to Busia route.

In the morning incident, the 55-year-old driver of the FAW truck belonging to a cement company spotted people hanging on the left side door before the door flung open and they started throwing out sacks of cement.

Despite the desperate efforts to scare away the robbers by repeatedly hooting, the robbers continued to felled bags to the thickets.

Fortunately, Embali Police Station officers in the vicinity who were on patrol sped to the location just in time to save the overpowered driver leading to the arrest of one member of the gang as the rest scampered off into the thickets.
