The Kenya Metrological Department on Monday released the weather advisory for the next seven days, where most regions in the country including Nairobi, are set to receive rainfall for the first half of the week.
According to the advisory, the weatherman warned Kenyans living in the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, and the Lake Victoria basin to expect rainfall that might be accompanied by storms for the first half of the week.
Residents living in areas around Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi Counties are expected to receive morning rains, afternoon and night showers, and thunderstorms.
Additionally, the residents in the above counties are expected to experience sunny intervals during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
Other regions set to be affected by the rains and the thunderstorms include regions around the Rift Valley, the Southeastern lowlands, the Coastal areas, and Northeastern Kenya. Siaya, Kisumu, Lamu, Mombasa, and Bungoma among other areas are set to be affected by the rains.
''Rainfall is expected in the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, southeastern lowlands, Coast, and northeastern Kenya during the first half of the week. Isolated storms may occur,'' Kenya Meteorological Department announced.
The weatherman also announced that there might be some weather changes within the second half of the week, with more areas witnessing a shift in the patterns recorded prior.
The second half of the week is set to be generally sunny and dry, with Kenyans warned to brace for the sudden shift in the weather patterns within the week. The average daytime temperatures are also expected to rise, with Kenya Met revealing that it might exceed 30°C in several areas across the country.
The rise in temperatures is also set to affect areas around northeastern and northwestern Kenya. The areas set to be affected include Butere, Kakamega, Busia, Wajir, Mandera, Bungoma, and Vihiga, among other areas.
Others include Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta Counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County.
''The second half of the week is likely to be generally sunny and dry. Average daytime (max) temperatures will exceed 30°C in several areas, including northeastern and northwestern Kenya,'' the weatherman noted in a statement.
Kenyans living in the Central Highlands and Rift Valley have also been asked to brace for exceptionally low temperatures at night, as most of the areas within the regions are set to experience drastic temperature drops.
Night temperatures are expected to fall below 10 degrees Celsius in parts of the Central Highlands and the Central Rift Valley.
''Night-time (min) temperatures are expected to drop below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands and Central Rift Valley,'' the statement from Kenya Met added.
