The Shanzu lawcourts through an auctioneer, announced on Friday, November 8, that it will put millions worth of unclaimed properties that have been lying idle at the Kadzandani and Nyali Police Stations on auction.
Among the uncollected properties are vehicles, motorcycles, and tuk-tuks that have overstayed in the said stations.
"Notice is issued pursuant to the provisions of the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act, Cap. 38 of the laws of Kenya and following an order by the Senior Principal Magistrates Court at Shanzu Law Courts, under miscellaneous case No. E218 of 2024 to the owners of the motorcycles, motor vehicle, and tuk-tuk at Kadzandani Police Station," read part of the notice.
The owners of the properties have been ordered to pick them up within seven days or they will be disposed of.
"Items to be picked within seven (7) days from the date of publication of this notice, failure to which Autoland Auctioneers, Mombasa, shall proceed to dispose of the said motorcycles, motor vehicle, and tuk-tuk by way of public auction on behalf of Kadzandani Police Station if they remain uncollected/ unclaimed." the notice continued.
Kadzandani Police Station has 12 motorcycles, 2 tuk-tuks, and one motor vehicle that the court has directed be picked up within seven days before they are auctioned.
Nyali Police Station has 2 unclaimed vehicles and over 20 unclaimed motorcycles that owners have been ordered to collect.
"Notice instructed by our client, under provisions of the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act, (Cap. 38) of the laws of Kenya, motor vehicle to sell by public auction within seven (7) days from the date of publication of this notice at our Mombasa office," the notice by Ezekiel Kimanzi of Autoland Auctioneers revealed.
Some of the models of vehicles to be put up for auction include a Subaru Wagon, a Subaru Forester, and a Toyota Wish.
Equally, Bajaj Boxer motorcycles, Kingbird motorbikes, Piaggio, Haojue, Haojin, Flyboy, and Dayun are also expected to be auctioned.
The notice further revealed that the owners will have to part with the cost of the publication notice before picking up their items.
Elsewhere owners of motor vehicles and motorcycles that are lying idle and unclaimed within Ruiru Police Yard, Nairobi have been advised to collect them within 30 days before they are disposed of by auctioning.
