Shiners Boys High School Principal John Mwangi has recounted the events leading to the tragic incident where one Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate was stabbed to death by a classmate.
According to the principal, the incident took place on the evening of Saturday after students had taken their supper.
He noted that while he was in his office, he heard screams and commotions emanating from the dormitory which, together with other teachers, hurried to see what was going on.
“We heard noise and we had to run from offices to the dormitory to go and see what was happening,” Mwangi stated.
Unfortunately, by the time the principal and his team arrived at the scene, the victim was already stabbed and terminally wounded.
“By the time we were arriving at the dormitory, one of our students by the name Ngugi Muciiri, candidate index number 29, had already been stabbed in the lower abdomen and even the intestines were out,” he added.
On her part, Eunice Nyaboke, the mother of the candidate, teary lamented the death of her son saying it was a shocker to her family.
She noted that it was painful to educate a student for four years and only when he was about to complete high school examinations, he passes away.
“As a parent from form one to form four, you expect to go and harvest fruits at the end of four years, then all of a sudden, you are called and told your child is dead,” the parent said tears welling in her eyes.
The principal confirmed that four students, the student who stabbed the colleague and his three accomplices, are in police custody awaiting to be arraigned in court next week.
It was discovered the four students had been suspended from the school over disciplinary issues. Allegedly when they returned, they found their personal items destroyed and suspected that the victim, whom they attacked in the dormitory, was responsible.
They attacked him and unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and died. His body was transferred to the Nakuru morgue waiting for an autopsy examination.
