Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has set the record straight regarding her financial status after a local media outlet reported auctioneers were planning to raid her residence over rent arrears amounting to Ksh1.25 million.

Speaking on K24 TV on Tuesday morning, the Senator dismissed the reports as misplaced rumours maintaining she was doing fine.

She also revealed that some individuals are using underhanded tactics to try to pressure her into actions she did not specify.

“There are people who think they can sponsor media, use rogue means to arm-twist you and intimidate you, and go to the whims to make commitments that they know very well are not right,” she said.

Nyamu stated that she is not one to be intimidated, emphasising that the correct procedures must be followed. She shut down the discussion, adding that she is not willing to address her issues in public.

“And I am here to teach them it doesn’t work with everyone. The right way has to be followed and I do not want to address my issues in public,” she asserted.

This came as concerned supporters of the Senator came together to fundraise for her to settle the arrears.

“They should not be concerned. Yesterday I got people wanting to raise money for me [sic]. They think am broke, I am not broke,” she said.

She further added, “I actually got some contributions on my phone and I am thankful to Kenyans but I am fine, I do not need donations now."

Earlier, it was reported that police officers had escorted auctioneers to Nyamu’s Runda Home to recover household items for sale to settle their arrears.

The senator has been involved in various public discussions and controversies, particularly regarding her conduct.

She went on to divulge that a colleague had asked her whether she was into gambling insisting she was living well. Though broke, she hasn't reached a level to beg for funds, she added.
