The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall alert to residents within the Nairobi Metropolis expected to last between Tuesday and Wednesday at 9:00 am.
In a report on Tuesday, November 19, the Kenya Met Department forecast showed that most areas in the capital city would receive light to moderate rainfall while isolated areas in the region would receive heavy downpours.
The weatherman further warned of a risk of storms in some areas that were most likely to cause a disruption in day-to-day activities.
Regions expected to receive heavy downpours are a huge part of Lang'ata as well as Embakasi East, West, and South estates with other areas expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
Makadara, Kamukunji, and parts of Starehe are also expected to receive moderate to heavy downpours.
Other parts slated to receive heavy downpours are parts of Westlands as well as Roysambu, Ruaraka, Mathare, and both Dagoretti North and South.
Light and moderate rainfall will be experienced in parts of Lang'ata, parts of Embakasi West, and parts of Westlands.
Kasarani, Embakasi Central and Kibera neighbourhoods will receive moderately low rainfall as well.
Neighbouring counties including Kajiado, Kiambu, and Machakos counties will also be experiencing bouts of rainfall according to the latest report.
Regions around Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, South-eastern Lowlands, Coast, North-western, and North-eastern Kenya are expected to experience rains.
More specifically Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi are areas across the country expected to experience heavy rainfall with occasional thunderstorms.
Regions around the Highlands, Rift Valley, and Central will experience low night-time temperatures.
