On Friday, November 22, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi announced 15 new appointments to various boards and committees within the Ministry as part of a reshuffle of the department. The changes were made public through a Gazette Notice.
Among the appointments, Mary Mukami Njehu and Sylvester Willys Namagwa have been appointed as members of the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.
As members of this Committee, they are tasked with protecting and upholding the public interest while also developing and regulating the accounting profession in Kenya.
Additionally, John Odhiambo Mudany has been appointed to chair the Registration and Quality Assurance Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.
Odhiambo will lead a committee that provides a second opinion on how to apply accounting, auditing, and reporting standards to specific situations or transactions for companies that are not current clients.
Haron Koimur, Erasto Mukuria Ng’ang’a, Stanley Mugo Mwangi, Mercy Ongonge, Christine Ngele Mwaka, and Fred Edward Otieno Ambala were appointed to be members of the same committee.
The CS also made changes to the Public Procurement Regulatory Board after appointing Linda Susan Ingari to be a member of the board.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 10(1)(b)(ii) of the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints Linda Susan Ingari to be a member of the Public Procurement Regulatory Board," part of the notice read.
Mbadi made changes to the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board by appointing Robert Kiprop Chelagat as a new member.
According to the Cabinet Secretary (CS), all appointed candidates will assume their roles starting Friday, November 22, and will serve in various capacities for the next three years.
These appointments come on the heels of fresh selections made by President William Ruto. On the same Friday, the president appointed former Kesses MP and multi-millionaire Swarup Mishra to lead the Kenya Biovax Institute Limited.
Additionally, Ruto appointed former Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General (Rtd) Robert Kibochi to chair the board of Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital.
