The Turkana County Public Service Board on Monday, November 25, advertised 302 permanent and pensionable job openings across multiple sectors.
In the advertisement carried in the local dailies, the county government invited interested applicants to mail or hand deliver their applications at the reception desk of the county’s PSC board offices by 5 PM on December 9.
Spread across 81 positions, the number of applicants varies depending on the job with some needing up to 38 applications and several others needing only one.
For instance, in the Department of Education, there are 38 positions available for assistant Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) teachers while 15 are needed for the ECDE teachers position.
Other positions with large numbers are security wardens with 29 openings as well as 10 plant operators in the Department of Agriculture.
In the Department of Health and Sanitation, several positions are open including medical specialists including; Orthopedics, Radiology, General Physician, and oncology on a contractual basis.
The rest of the positions in the department are eight positions for community health registered nurses, five nursing officers, and 10 clinical officers all being offered on a permanent and pensionable basis.
A Director of Public Health Services and a Director of Clinical Services are also being sought to serve under a contract by the UN.
The Department of Education is also seeking several youth polytechnic instructors in various fields including; Carpentry and Joinery, Plumbing and Pipe fitting, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, and motor vehicle technology.
Two engineers, two assistant engineers two quantity surveyors, and four architectural assistants are also needed in the Department of Roads.
In the Livestock Department, five animal health officers and 14 health assistant officers are required.
