The Ministry of Health has launched a nationwide logo design competition for the Digital Health Agency (DHA), a government body tasked with transforming healthcare delivery by integrating digital technologies.
In a tender notice on Tuesday, the agency announced that the competition was open to all Kenyan citizens and the tenderer could be an individual or a business registered in Kenya.
“Digital Health Agency (DHA) invites eligible candidates to bid for the Logo Design Competition for the logo of Digital Health Agency,” part of the notice read.
The prices are fixed at Ksh150,000 for first place, Ksh100,000 for second place, and the third place winner will take home Ksh50,000.
Opening on November 26, the competition will run until 17 December. In the meantime, contestants can submit their designs to the Social Health Authority (SHA) building in Upper Hill, Nairobi.
Submissions must be made by physical mail, as electronic submissions will not be considered.
Contestants are required to submit the logo design in a single envelope, including six high-resolution colour copies and six black-and-white copies, all in A4 paper size. A soft copy of the design on a flash drive must also be included.
“This is a one-envelope tender. All the proposals should be in one envelope clearly marked the Tender Number without any indication of the name of the bidder,” part of the notice read.
The awarding criteria will follow seven guidelines that include; the use of high-resolution colours, the inclusion of the agency’s name, and a creative tagline, all of which constitute five marks each.
Creativity, impact, and freshness will also be considered. The aesthetics should be precise and the colour combinations warm and appealing.
For proper professionalism, the emblem should also be simple in tone for applicability in all publications including print and digital. It should also be distinct and easily identifiable on all DHA material.
Entrants should also include a written description of their design explaining its graphic identity, rationale, tag lines, connotation and any inspirations along with other relevant information to score 10 additional marks.
Submissions that do not meet the criteria of compulsory accompanying documents will be immediately eliminated from the competition.
These documents include; a copy of a national ID or business registration certificate, a tax compliance certificate, a filled business questionnaire, self-declaration forms and personal data for all entrants.
The DHA has been instrumental in the transition from the now-defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF). Although experts have admitted to facing difficulties with the system, this new competition points to plans of making it more available and visible in the healthcare sector.
For more on the tender, interested participants may obtain a set of tender documents with detailed instructions from the Ministry of Health website www.health.go.ke or the Public Procurement Information Portal (PPIP).
