As the festive season drew to a close over the past few days, the accident comes at a time when most people are travelling back to their workplaces.
The holiday in itself reported several other accidents with the most fatal being the December 23 crash that led to eight deaths along the Narok-Mai Mahiu highway.
The fatal accident occurred when two trailers crashed at the same scene in two different incidents.
The first truck hit a Narok Line matatu, a Premio, and a bus resulting in the deaths of three of the matatu passengers.
Shortly afterwards, another truck arrived at the scene hitting a Prado and a Bodaboda resulting in five more fatalities; 3 from the Prado and two pillion passengers.
On January 3, nine more people succumbed in an early morning accident in the Soy area along the Eldoret-Kitale Highway.
It occurred when a Great Rift Shuttle and a lorry collided leaving the PSV’s driver among the casualties.
