Following rising public concern over the health of Malava Member of Parliament Malulu Injendi, his family has provided its first update on the lawmaker’s condition since his admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Speaking after visiting Malava MP Malulu Injendi at a leading hospital in Nairobi on Thursday and speaking to his family, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa disclosed, on family's behalf, that the lawmaker is currently in stable condition.

''I want to assure our people that we have seen Honourable Malulu Injendi and he is recovering. Doctors have tried their best and they are continuing,'' Barasa stated.

Initially, social media was rife with rumours about the health of the lawmaker, with some sections claiming that he was seriously ill.

Malulu was reportedly admitted to the hospital on Tuesday after experiencing health complications, sparking concerns about his well-being.

However, Barasa has moved to allay the fears, insisting that he is currently doing better than he was when he was admitted.

''We are impressed by the treatment they have given him. I just want to ask you to help us pray for him. I just want to assure our people that our MP is doing much better,'' Barasa added.

However, when pinned down to explain what was ailing the lawmaker, the Governor refused indicating that all he was allowed to speak on was an update on his status.

''We do not want to go in that direction because mine was to assure the people of Kakamega and Malava that their MP is doing well,'' he refuted.

Barasa was accompanied by key leaders and Malulu's fellow lawmakers from Kakamega County, including Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera, Emmanuel Wangwe(Navakholo), and Caleb Amisi(Saboti).

Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera also reaffirmed Barasa's statement, noting that the MP is making good progress in his recovery.

''After talking to doctors, I am pleased to report that he is responding remarkably well to treatment, with significant improvement in his health compared to yesterday,'' Nabwera stated.

Malulu is among the most educated Members of Parliament, having been listed among the lawmakers with PhD degrees.

He was elected to Parliament under the now-defunct Amani National Congress that merged with the United Democratic Alliance(UDA).
